Central authorities of domestic administration (Hofkanzlei, Directorium in publicis et cameralibus, Böhmisch-Österreichische Hofkanzlei, Vereinigte Hofstellen) until 1848 – Ministerium des Innern (Ministry of the Interior) and specialist ministries as from 1848, in particular Unterricht und Kultus (Education and Public Worship, until 1940!), Landwirtschaft, Handel und Verkehr (Agriculture, Trade and Transport) – Oberste Justizstelle (Supreme Judicial Authority) as from 1749, Ministry of Justice as from 1848 (until 1940!) – Polizeihofstelle (Court Police Authority).

Directly person-related archival holdings, e.g. nobilitations and acts of grace ("ennoblement acts", charters granting coats of arms); "Professorenakten" ("professorship files", selected personnel decisions from the registry of the Ministry of Education and Public Worship until 1940); Lower Austrian law (last wills and probate proceedings, remains of records damaged by fire); Polizeihofstelle (Court Police Office, in charge of surveillance); family archives; estates.
